HISTORY

In the summer of 2006, through a sovereign move of God, the Tryed Stone Missionary Baptist Church of Bond Hill, OH and the New Beginning Christian Fellowship Church of Oakley, OH were united as one fellowship. The Tryed Stone New Beginning Church became a blended church with separate histories.  A brief snippet of each is offered herewith.

Tryed Stone Missionary Baptist Church

The Tryed Stone Missionary Baptist Church of Cincinnati, OH had its beginning in 1968 at a store front location at 2815 Woodburn Avenue, where the 17 original members agreed upon the church name. In October of 1969 Rev. Anderson Culbreath accepted the pastorate and by 1974 the church had outgrown the location and purchased a new facility at 5015 Reading Rd in the Bond Hill community.

There were two obvious "Benchmarks" of Tryed Stone: God's favor was evident and that of being a praying church. The church was well known for its all-night intercessory and daily noon-day prayer and answered prayer requests. The ministry grew and by 1981 the congregation had outgrown their location. In 1982 a building expansion program was completed. On the first Sunday in November of that same year, many were baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, many were healed and demons were cast out of others. Again, the church outgrew its location, and again, the saints sought the Lord.

On February 16, 1992, the first service was held in the new edifice. Notable events followed including a visit from (then) Gov. Bill and Hillary Clinton in Nov, 1992 who attended morning worship where Gov. Bill Clinton requested Dr. Culbreath pray for his strength.

On Nov. 5, 2000, Dr. Anderson Culbreath announced his retirement after 32 years of service and in 2001, his son Bro. Arnold M. Culbreath was installed as Senior Pastor. The Lord was faithful and blessed the church where Bro. Arnold Culbreath served as Senior Pastor for 4 years. In 2004, Bro. Arnold resigned to pursue and embrace the further call of the Lord on his life and ministry. Bro. James Bready was assigned to serve as Interim Pastor. Under his committed and dedicated leadership the church moved forward during this season of transition.

New Beginning Christian Fellowship Church

1997 was the origin of the New Beginning CFC when a group of God's people elected to separate themselves from a traditional denominational church. Because of their hunger and thirst for the things of the Lord, they fervently and prayerfully sought direction from the Lord and with the guidance of their leadership; a foundation was laid for an "eighth day" church or "New Beginning CFC". They were chartered in 1997.

Worship services were held at various sites and in 1999 the first edifice was purchased in Oakley, OH. Under the leadership of Pastor Michael McCoy, New Beginning grew spiritually and physically. However upon the pastor's resignation in 2001, the congregation prayerfully sought the Lord for a new pastor.

Dr. Anderson Culbreath sent Bro. Jerry L. Culbreth who preached his first sermon at New Beginning on September 9, 2001. One month later, Bro. Jerry was released from his assignments at Tryed Stone to assume the pastorate on a full time basis. Bro. Jerry Culbreth, started teaching principles of healthy church growth, leadership, father-son relationships and 'The Kingdom of God'. By 2005, Bro. Jerry L. Culbreth was preaching to a "packed" church every Sunday.

Tryed Stone New Beginning Church

The sovereign move of the Lord, brought the two churches together and the son came home to shepherd the ministry united as one fellowship to the Glory of God. Today, this ministry's passion is for a people of excellence to abound in every area of their lives and fulfill their purpose and destiny. The ministry has become a trailblazer always exploring innovative avenues to demonstrate the power of the Word and ministering the gospel.

The ministry currently employs full time employees, part-time employees and a host of volunteer workers who staff the facilities on its 6.2 acre campus. Tryed Stone New Beginning Church is part of a faith-based initiative to build 300 single family homes just blocks from the church. The intention is to revitalize the community where residents can live, work, learn, play, shop and worship.

With our explosive growth in membership, our future is bright. The present location currently houses the sanctuary, administrative offices, classrooms and areas for fellowship, meetings and media functions. Our future building plan, The Anderson Culbreath Equipping Center will enhance and expand our ability to continue presenting a variety of productions, programs and activities such as conferences, concerts, theatrical productions, educational classes and more.

Tryed Stone New Beginning Church is one of the most progressive, growing churches in the Tri-State, all by the Grace and Favor of God. The Borders of the United States cannot restrict the impact of the ministry of the Tryed Stone New Beginning Church upon the world.
